Relaxation exercise journey/strategies
Hello all!
Welcome to my blog, my name is David and I am currently pursuing my Bachelors in Health and wellness. Throughout my studying I have found out multiple new ways on how to use stress management and relaxation techniques.
Some relaxation techniques I have established and am practicing are, when stressed write down my problem and go for a run. When I come back from my run usually I forget why I was stressed or I come to realization that it's not anything to be too stressed about.
Another relaxation exercise I have been doing is self reflection. By this I mean reflecting back on actions or things that I did to stress my self and rationalize why I am stressed. For instance stressed about traffic because I'm running late. Well I made myself stressed in that moment because I hit snooze in the morning maybe one too many times. So it helps me cope knowing that my own actions I can change to avoid the stress from arising again.
Hope to hear and see all of your other techniques and possibly try them out as well!

Great ideas, David. I sometimes take to writing when stressed as well. I tend to start writing random poetry, which helps calm my nerves.
Sounds like you are well on your way to health and wellness. Running is something I love to do but during the winter it has been hard to get out so I have switched more to lifting weights and dance. It is amazing how exercise helps to lessen stress! I also appreciate the breathing techniques and visualization that I have been learning. My life has been really stressful and the timing has been great for the skills these classes have been giving me! Christina
Hi David,
I really like your method of self-reflection to figure out ways to reduce stress in your life. I am a believer that stress is one of the biggest problems in people's lives and learning how to manage stress is critical to living a happy life. I have found various ways to deal with stress over the years but I think the most effective for me has been looking closely at something I am stressed about and putting it into perspective. I find that something that seems very stressful at a certain time actually had o negative outcomes like I imagined. We tend to overthink the future and imagine the worst possible outcome that we have no control over but in reality a completely different outcome happens that is not devastasting at all.
Hi David,
Nice post! I can completely relate to you. I am a runner too, so that is one stress outlet. I also like a lot of fitness and play sports so all of those are my stress relievers. I do the self reflection thing too in a way. I look at the situation and realize I am the one making myself stressed and I have the ability to choose not to be. I also know I have the ability daily to choose happiness, choose love, and choose gratitude over anger, hate, and grief. :-)
Hi David,
Have you thought about practicing yoga or meditation. Yoga and meditation are other ways of self reflection that you could do. I used to have an anger/stress problem when I first started my journey and realized I needed to misplace my anger/stress into something productive. I ended up picking up kickboxing and yoga as a way to balance out my life and let me tell you. People started to see a change in the way I handled and dealt stressful situations.
Hello David!
Great post and thank you for sharing your techniques. I always feel like a good run lets you clear your mind and let go of everything. This is especially true when you are just randomly running and not thinking about choosing a specific path or destination. Exercise promotes production of norepinephrine which is associated with improved cognitive function, elevated mood and learning. No one ever says they regret that run or exercise session because our bodies are on the "high".
